What Is the Isolation Transformer?

The Wavecom Isolation Transformer is a purpose-built accessory for RCD testing. When you test a portable RCD on a circuit that’s also protected by a switchboard RCD, the switchboard RCD can trip — cutting power to the whole circuit and interrupting your testing workflow. The isolation transformer prevents that by isolating the test circuit from the main supply.

Rated at 240V AC in and 240V AC out at 100mA maximum, it’s designed specifically for RCD testing use. It’s not a general-purpose transformer — it’s the right tool for one specific, common problem that every test and tag technician encounters when testing portable RCDs on live circuits.
